Taste Turin

A culinary adventure awaits you in Turin.

A true dinner in Turin must be preceded by a fun ritual that takes place late every afternoon in the cafés, wine bars, and clubs along the river… an aperitif! A cocktail or a glass of vermouth accompanied by light sandwiches, cold cuts, local cheeses, pasta, risotto, and regional specialties. The perfect way to begin your evening in Turin.

Appetisers are available in an infinite variety of meats, fish, vegetables, eggs, salami and cheeses, all of course, served with grissini, the famous breadsticks, invented in the 17th century for Prince Victor Amadeus II of Savoy.

Any first course selection must include agnolotti, meat filled pasta, which is dressed in either gravy made from roasted meat, butter and sage, a ragout sauce, or meat broth.

Not to be missed is the wide selection of high quality, handmade cheeses coming from our Alpine valleys. And of course, all of this can be washed down with our great Piedmontese red and white wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, Arneis, and many more.

HISTORICAL CAFÉS

Visit one of our historical cafes, richly decorated with mirrors, wood panelling, and satin upholstery and experience the atmosphere of the Risorgimento period in ones of the many cafes across the city. Here you can enjoy sipping on a variety of hot drinks like hot chocolate, a bicerin made from espresso, chocolate, and cream, or a zabaione.

CHOCOLATE

Turin has a rich history of chocolate production and is the Italian capital of traditional chocolate. It began in the 18th century to satisfy the sweet tooth of the Court of Savoy and led to the invention of gianduiotti and many other types of confections including, pralines, cakes, biscuits, ice creams, and hot chocolate.
